About us

Our story

Originally founded in the deepest basements of Austrian prisons, the band On Parole was created as a pastime and an activity to make life behind bars a little more bearable for inmates. Over the years, what started as a simple distraction grew into an idea—an idea that became a mission and a purpose.

Music is more than just sound; it unites people. It helps release aggression, fosters understanding, and most importantly, supports social reintegration—an invaluable tool in the process of rehabilitation.

On Parole eventually became Prisoners Unite—a mission and a purpose that do not end at the prison gates. We see it as our duty to help people reintegrate into society and find their path, regardless of skin color, race, nationality, or gender.

and mission

Prisoners Unite was the first project of the internationally verified and proven NGO Inmates Shelter. In the meanwhile Inmates Shelter has started different other projects to help resocializing prisoners and to support nature and animal protection. The project NAP for example provides education in exchange for non profit work of prisoners. Prisoners Connect provides social integration to avoid social isolation of people. DONNA
Our lead vocalist is 32 years old, born in Vienna. Before she came to Prisoners Unite, she always had long hair. Now she likes to wear it short. Donna LOVES junk-food and she can eat tons of it without getting fat. Donna usually wears simple causl clothes. Her birthday is on the 9th of February.

mario
Mario plays the lead guitar. He became 35 in the beginning of 2025. Usually he has cut his hair very short, almost bald headed. Mario hates junk-food, so it can be quite difficult to go out to eat with all of them. Just as Donna, he likes to wear casual clothes such as Shirts and Jeans.

harry
Harry is the quiet guy in our band. He loves his guitar, but would never touch an electric guitar. He likes the traditional kind of music such as traditional rock or even country. Harry wrote the Country version of our song "Loonging for Donna" on the "Laura" album. He is 34 years old.

edi
If he touches you with his eyes, you will never again escape him. Edi is the textbook Rock musician. 45 years old, long hair, cowboy boots and a long, dark leather coat are his typical signs. Edi did not play any instruments before he joinded Prisoners Unite and started to learn after he joinded.

Martin
He is the man behind the project. As one of the co-founder of the mother NGO Inmates-Shelter, he very soon started to work on the Prisoners Unite project. Just as in prison times, he now plays the drums. But Martin also acts as the main producer of our songs as well as the main songwriter. Martin is 51 years old.

gil and mike
Both joined Prisoners Unite only a few weeks ago. Gil as a backing vocalist and Mike plays the keyboard and some percussion.

Gil is 23 years old and our red-head kitten. She likes old and loose dresses as well as skirts and shirts. She and Donna like to spend time in fastfood restaurants.

Mike became 50 in the beginning of 2025. He originally comes from Norway. Love brought him to this place, but love fades when people are in prison. However, Mike wont return to Norway for the moment.
